California Shutters are one of the most popular styles for homeowners. They are a narrower style of Plantation Shutters so the names are used interchangeably.

The lovers of a California shutter is approximately 2-3/8″ wide as opposed to 3-1/2″ for Plantation shutters so they are spaced a little closer together and as such will require more lovers per shutter.

The narrower louver requires less depth in the window frame so they are ideal for shallower windows. The narrower gaps also mean that they restrict more light even when open fully.

Choosing shutter style is more about the room environment as it is about light and visibility so  it is best to view a sample on you window during an in home consultation.

The California and Plantation styles offer very smooth functionality when opening and closing the shutter and will enhance any room.
